Before we even get down to the nitty-gritty of such possibilities, let me present the 10 guiding questions for Self-Coaching...
- Is this good for Me?
- What does my body have to say about it?
- What are my Values?
- Whay would Jesus (or insert another role-model's name) do?
- What am I seeing?
- What really matters here?
- Where should I act / where shoudl I step back?
- What would make me genuinely happy?
- Who has some guidance for me right now?
- What is the desired intention in my life today?
Now I can't recall where I read this, but it certainly impressed me enough to jot it down on a notepad and stick it into my planner. Unfortunately, I mised out on who and where I got it, and it has been a while, so I can't recall where I stumbled across this. I will endeavor to find the source - but should someone see this and know said source, please give me a post, so I can properly cite its source.
Now as to it being possible... it sure seems so, but... and this is a BIG but, it will entail honesty on the person who is trying to implement a self-coaching technique... after all, just as coaching will entail ferreting out the truth form the coachee - the coach must likewise ensure that he (or she) is being honest in answering the questions.
Aside from that one stumbling block, I find no other reason why it shouldn't work. Have I tried it yet? Honestly?... not yet. I see this as a checklist to go through when a decision has to be made - one pertaining to something possibly life-changing like a new career. So I guess I'm just waiting for the rgiht opportunity to use these ten guiding questions.
When that happens, I hope it does work.
